Football fans in Tiger Stadium will not have to squint to see highlights on the new videoboard in the north endzone.

LSU released a graphic on its social media channels on Tuesday that shows just how much bigger the new videoboard in the north endzone is compared to the old videoboard. It’s double the size of the old one.

The new videoboard is 152 feet wide, 37 feet tall, 5,624 square feet. While the old videoboard was 80 feet wide, 28 feet tall, 2,240 square feet.

On each side of the videoboard, there will be two new speaker towers, with each standing 37-feet tall and 152 feet wide.

New video boards are also going up in the south endzone corners and they will be 48-feet tall and measure 67-feet in width.

Crews have also spent the summer installing 11 LED ribbon boards that will run along the fascia on the east, west and south sides of Tiger Stadiums. They will feature animations, graphics, and statistics.

LED lights have also been installed to add to the Gameday experience. They will provide in-game light shows and they will also brighten up the field of play in Tiger Stadium.

We might see purple and gold light shows after touchdowns and I’m sure LSU has something planned for in between the third and fourth quarters when the sound system is playing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” by Garth Brooks.

These enhancements are all part of the centennial celebration of Tiger Stadium.

And LSU is also hoping these improvements will incentivize fans to watch the game in person, instead of on their big screen TV at home and once they are inside Tiger Stadium, to stay longer.
