Louisiana woman kicked out of steakhouse after wearing 'inappropriate' tube top

A Louisiana woman was asked to leave a steakhouse due to her 'too revealing' tube top, she claims.

Y'Mine McClanahan was allegedly confronted by the owner of the Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood restaurant in Baton Rouge over her sunflower-printed two-piece tube top set, eventually throwing her out.

She took to Facebook to slam the restaurant's policy saying: "Their waitresses can wear mini skirts with their butt hanging out and fish nets but my set is too revealing for the 'atmosphere' they're trying to create. Never again. I’m done with Stabs."

Ms McClanahan, who is a vice president of the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) chapter, claimed the hostess initially intended to seat her until the owner interfered. The owner told the nurse practitioner that her outfit was 'too revealing at the top.'

Upon questioning the owner about waitresses allowed to wear short shorts, fishnets, and visible tattoos, Ms McClanahan was told there is a 'family' dress code for customers.

On their website, Stab's reinforces this, informing its guests that a 'business causal' attire policy applicable for a fine dining, family-oriented restaurant is expected. They specified rules prohibiting gym wear, sweatpants, tank tops, clothing bearing offensive graphics or language, displayed undergarments or revealing clothes, cut-off shorts, flip flops, and ripped jeans.

Ms McClanahan stated that she had visited the restaurant two weeks earlier wearing the same outfit without any issues, but the owner was not willing to let it slide this time. However, the owner did propose a compromise, offering McClanahan a table if she could find something to 'cover yourself. '.

The Baton Rouge chapter of the NAACP expressed their 'deep disappointment and concern' over the treatment of their vice president in a statement. "This incident has caused significant distress within our organization and among our members who frequently patronize your restaurant," the statement read. "The treatment of Ms. McClanahan has left us questioning the consistency and fairness of your policies."

The chapter requested a meeting with the management team at the Jefferson Highway Stab's location to "restore trust and respect" and to "discuss this matter in detail." The letter was signed by Branch President Tia Mills and LA NAACP State Conference President, Michael W. McClanahan. It remains unclear if Y'Mine and Michael are related.

As news of the alleged incident spread, people took to social media to slam the restaurant. Commenting under one of the restaurant's posts, one Facebook user wrote: "Word of mouth is the best solicitation. Looks like the good people will make sure this spreads like wild fire to make sure others see how distasteful y’all really be in this 5 (star) over priced with ****** waitresses joke of a place.

"I love to boycott places. Added to my list. Y’all need to do something about the situation. Y’all know damn well, she was appropriatly [sic] dressed for y’all’s racist establishment. That gorgeous lady did not need to be treated like that"
