LSU’s 2025 prospect list is filled with top-100 players and talent from across the country and now that we’re approaching the fall, the Tigers’ board is becoming more clear.

On Friday, we went through LSU’s backcourt recruiting for the 2025 class , while today we’re covering the wings and forwards the Tigers have been linked to throughout this process. Matt McMahon has this program recruiting at a respectable level to compete with the top half of the SEC year in and year out, but now we get to see the top priorities for them in this cycle.

    Here’s the rundown.

Set official visit dates to LSU

PF Matthew Gilhool (OV Sept 7-9)

PF A’mare Bynum (OV Sept 27-29)

SF Jasir Rencher (OV Oct 12)

Gilhool was a late push from LSU in this cycle, but the staff has shown a ton of interest in the past couple of months as he continued to show out on the AAU circuit. He currently has visits set for LSU, Iowa, and Georgia Tech. A Pennsylvania native, Gilhool is the No. 77 player in the country at 6-foot-10 with a nice jumper and good tools.

Bynum is the No. 88 player in the country and at 6-foot-8 plays at Link Academy with a ton of interest from the Big 10. He has visits set for Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, Colorado and LSU. It seems Nebraska is in the lead with how many unofficial visits the Cornhuskers have gotten from Bynum, but LSU should still be in the mix.

Rencher is another addition over the summer LSU is high on. A 6-foot-5 wing from Oakland, California, Rencher has visits lined up to Washington, Oklahoma, and LSU, with the Tigers being his final visit at this point. This feels like a recruitment that’s more open and could extend into November, but for now, LSU has planted itself in the mix.

    Setting dates

    F Chris Cenac

    PF Jamarion Davis-Fleming

Cenac is the big name everyone wants to know about.  A 6-foot-10 forward out of New Orleans, LSU and Houston have been the two teams recruiting him since 2023 and the two teams that have hosted him on unofficial visits. As if that wasn’t enough competition for the Tigers, every other team (and recruiting service) in America has now taken notice of Cenac and now looks at him as a top 15 player in the country. He’s going to play his senior season at Link Academy which will shine an even brighter light on him. From talking to sources, it seems LSU knew he would eventually blow up and has continued to push hard, making him the No. 1 priority in the frontcourt. It’s going to be difficult to keep the blue bloods out of the picture, but LSU is working to set an official visit date and hopefully get him to stay home. I don’t have a lean right now because we don’t know his top schools or even an official visit date yet.

Davis-Fleming is a quality player and someone the Tigers would be happy to get in this class if some of the other names above don’t pan out. He had LSU in his top four along with both of the Mississippi schools and it’s clear that will be the Tigers’ top competition. We’ll see how the official visits go this fall, but he’s going to be tough to pull from the state of Mississippi.

    Longshots

    SF Shelton Henderson

    SF Nate Ament

Henderson has a 91.5 percent RPM  to Duke right now and I think that’s a borderline lock at this moment. LSU recruited him and he has not cut them out yet, but it’s looking like he’s going to play for Jon Scheyer.

Ament’s recruitment is open as well, but I don’t think LSU will be in his top teams. He probably stays on the east coast.

How LSU navigates adding frontcourt/wing talent

The Tigers are in a great place in the frontcourt for 2025 even if they don’t add anyone in this class. Jalen Reed, Daimion Collins, Robert Miller, Corey Chest, and Noah Boyde are all able to return for the 2025-26 season, so the need to just add anyone from this class is not there. With that being the case, I think LSU looks to take its big swing at Cenac first and foremost. After that, it’s all about fit. Does the staff want a skilled player like Gilhool or more athletic guys like Bynum and Davis-Fleming? I think they’ll look to add one forward, but outside of Cenac there’s not an obvious need.

On the wing, it’s a similar case, with Tyrell Ward able to return and LSU will likely need a portal player regardless, like it got with Dji Bailey this year. Rencher is the only wing on this list right now besides the two longshots and I think LSU really likes him and pushes for him pretty hard as a replacement for Bailey this year. If that doesn’t work out, maybe LSU adds a name late in the process, but ultimately this group of 3-5s is all about one player – Chris Cenac. Get him and the rest doesn’t matter.

Don’t get him and you start having to look at which of these guys are the best fit for 2025. Either way, the frontcourt is not a massive need in this class the way the backcourt is.
