BCPD: Juvenile arrested after shooting near home

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A juvenile was arrested after he allegedly opened fire in front of a home in Battle Creek Thursday, police say.

The shots were fired around 3:30 p.m. in the area of James Street and Post Avenue in the Post/Franklin neighborhood, the Battle Creek Police Department said.

A juvenile girl and her mother identified the suspect, and the girl said she was in a relationship with him, according to police. The two told investigators he shot in front of their home — neither were injured and their house wasn’t damaged.

Police say they found the suspect at his home nearby. He was arrested and police say they found the gun.

He was taken to the county juvenile home to face weapons charges.
