Lincoln, Neb. —The center pivot is the one invention that has changed the irrigated agricultural landscape worldwide. Center pivot irrigation has increased irrigation water use efficiency and reduced labor costs. It has also allowed agricultural development on marginal land with varying soil types and topography. Irrigated acres in Nebraska have increased from 3,998,000 acres (1960) to 9,378,462 acres (2022).

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Enjoying these dog days of summer yet? If so, the weather center applauds you and if not, brace yourself because the heat is not exiting anytime soon. Not only is it not exiting, but the heat intensifies by the middle of next week with a couple days potentially climbing into the triple digits. Very little change in the forecast Saturday with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s in central and eastern Nebraska. Mid to upper 90s in western Nebraska are likely once again as well.
