Kentucky Motel Must Pay Over $2M After Man Fatally Suffers From 150-Degree Shower Burns
Econo Lodge Motel must pay the estate of Alex Chronis a total of $2.06 million after the 76-year-old man died after sustaining third-degree burns after shower at the motel. The estate originally filed the lawsuit in October 2022 in Kentucky’s Kenton County Circuit Court for $7 million in damages.

Illinois woman killed in officer-involved shooting is honored at funeral
A funeral was held Friday for Sonya Massey, the Springfield, Illinois, woman who died after authorities say a police deputy shot her after she called 911 to report a possible intruder. Sean Grayson, the deputy involved in the shooting who has since been fired, was indicted on three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and official misconduct, according to a statement from Sangamon County State's Attorney John Milhiser. Grayson pleaded not guilty and was denied pretrial release. "Today is about peace, today is about my big sister. It’s not about that man that’s gonna rot in jail, it’s about my big sister," Massey's younger sister, Breeanna Toles, said. "As baby sister, I look back at our text messages. Cookeville Will Apply For 3rd Spring St Grant
Cookeville will apply for a new multi-modal grant to complete the next phase of the Spring Street Sidewalk project. This section would include sidewalks from Carlen Drive to the Saxony Development. Phase one of the project has been completed while phase two is expected to bid this fall. Community Development Director Jon Ward said the project began with a T-DOT grant application in 2014.

Two Suspects Wanted in Connection to Highway Patrol Trooper Shooting in Putnam County
Authorities are searching for two suspects who are wanted in connection to the shooting of Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Adam Cothron in Cookeville on July 19th. Authorities have identified one of the suspects as 29-year-old Braze Rucker and THP is offering a $10,000 award for information leading to the arrest of Rucker.
