Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow) – June 27, 2024 – For the first time in 50 years the Arkansas Press Association is meeting in Jonesboro for its annual convention. Embracing the theme “Sharing the News, Shining the Light” the convention kicked off with a reception Thursday night in the Woodard McAlister Family Club at Centennial Bank Stadium at Arkansas State University. Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Jeff Purinton and Chancellor Todd Shields and his wife, Karen, welcomed the visitors at the kickoff reception. The reception was followed by a tour of the Centennial Bank Athletics Operations Center.
A-State Announces November MAC-SBC Challenge Matchups
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT/Edited News Release) - The Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt Conference announced Thursday November matchups for the 2024-25 MAC-SBC Challenge. A-State’s men’s team will host Akron while the women’s squad hits the road to face Western Michigan. The MAC men and Sun Belt women’s teams will then host February matchups, which will be determined in January. All November contests will be played on Monday, Nov. 4.

Arkansas transportation projects win $41M in federal funding
Three Arkansas projects will get a combined $40.7 million in federal grants, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Wednesday. State of play: The money will help build a 14-mile extension of Interstate 49 from Alma to Barling in Crawford and Sebastian counties ($25 million), upgrade downtown Siloam Springs' E.
