Price said that the decision Tuesday by the county Board of Supervisors to consolidate the recall with the Nov. 5 general election is a win for her campaign, especially given the fact that her detractors pushed hard for supervisors to call a special, stand-alone election.

"We are here today to appreciate that the Board of Supervisors yesterday did the right thing and decided not to invest $20 million of our hard-earned tax dollars for a failed effort to overturn the November 2022 election," she said during a press conference at Oakland's famed Everett & Jones BBQ restaurant near Jack London Square.

Price won the 2022 election with roughly 53 percent of the vote and became the first African American woman to hold the county's top prosecutor job.

Soon after, however, opponents launched a petition drive and ultimately gathered enough signatures to place her name on a recall ballot, alleging that her progressive reform platform was too soft on criminals and led to increasing crime -- making her the first district attorney in the county's history to face a recall.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a fatal shooting in Santa Rosa on Monday night, police said Wednesday.

Diego Kona Kekhuna is accused of the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man outside of a home in the 700 block of Slater Street. Officers responded at 9:09 p.m. Monday to reports of the shooting and arrived to find the victim on the sidewalk, according to Santa Rosa police. He was pronounced dead and his name has not yet been released.

Investigators determined Kekhuna arrived uninvited at a female acquaintance's home and started an argument in front of the home. The male victim then came out of the home and was shot multiple times in the chest, police said.

Kekhuna then allegedly hid the gun in the wheel well of a parked truck and ran away, though detectives eventually recovered the firearm at the scene.

Authorities learned that Kekhuna was hiding at a family member's home in Elk Grove and obtained warrants for his arrest and to search the home. At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Santa Rosa investigators with the help of Elk Grove police served the warrants and took Kekhuna into custody without incident, police said.

A pickup truck driver was killed early Wednesday morning following a collision with a tractor that was pulling a sprayer near Linden, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP officials said a John Deere tractor driven by a 65-year-old Stockton man that was pulling farm equipment at 5:10 a.m. was traveling west on Comstock Road west of Duncan Road at about 25 mph.

At the same time, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old man from Lockeford was going west on Comstock Road approaching the rear of the tractor.

For reasons yet to be determined, the two vehicles crashed, causing the pickup truck to overturn, travel off the south roadway edge and stop at the dirt shoulder of Comstock Road.

The Lockeford resident was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

CHP officials said neither of the drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and investigators haven't determined whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the crash.
