Petaluma Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Grawylawn Avenue on Thursday morning, according to a press release from later that day. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire, which was on the exterior of the building, within four minutes of arrival.

The City of Petaluma Building Department and PG&E responded to the scene. The Building Department placed a "red tag" on the structure, restricting its use, according to the press release.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to help two residents.

"We applaud the neighbors' quick action of calling 9-1-1 and alerting the residents," the fire department said in a press release. "Doing so helped evacuate the residents safely and helped crews respond promptly."

Additional units from Petaluma and Rancho Adobe Fire District helped extinguish the fire.

The Petaluma Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
