Solano County sheriff's deputies cited a minor they say is responsible for a social media threat against a middle school early Friday morning.

Law enforcement officials said the threat wasn't credible and no students or staff were in any danger.

Shortly after midnight, Fairfield police became aware a student posted on social media they would "shoot up school."

Later that morning, Fairfield police identified the child as a middle school student at Suisun Valley K-8 School.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office was notified, and deputies responded to the school and contacted the student, who was in the principal's office. The student and parents cooperated with deputies.

The student was cited and released to their parents.
