Authorities have identified a man police say was intentionally run over Sunday night at a Concord gas station.

Joe Calderon-Rodriguez, 33, was killed when 22-year-old Concord resident Alex Lazaro-Rosas allegedly ran him over, police said. The Contra Costa County Coroner's Office didn't know where Calderon-Rodriguez lived.

At 7:45 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a gas station in the 2800 block of Grant Street where a man had been hit by a car. Officers found Calderon-Rodriguez with injuries caused by a vehicle impact.

Officers and paramedics provided medical aid, but Calderon-Rodriguez died at the scene.

Lazaro-Rosas fled the scene but was arrested a short distance away, police said. He was booked into Contra Costa County jail on suspicion of murder.

Anyone with information about this case can contact Detective Justin Wilson at (925) 603-5859.
