Contra Costa Co.: Early Morning Blaze Destroys Home In Discovery Bay

An early morning house fire Thursday destroyed a home in Discovery Bay.

Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were dispatched just after midnight to reports of flames coming from the roof of a home in the 3600 block of Valley Oak Drive.

While en route, crews confirmed visible smoke and requested the addition of a water tender to the fire response.

Firefighters began a defensive fire attack as the home's roof partially collapsed early in the response.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters controlled the blaze in under two hours, the fire district said on social media.

The fire was contained to the one home with no extension to nearby houses. The cause is under investigation.
