( KRON ) — Evacuation orders for the Point Fire burning between Concord and Bay Point have been lifted, Cal Fire said on Saturday. All evacuated homes have since been repopulated.

As of Saturday morning, the fire, which broke out off Evora Road on Friday afternoon, has burned 471 acres and is 40 percent contained. Forward progress on the blaze was halted Friday evening.

Evacuation warnings were specifically placed north of Highway 4 in the following regions :  CCC-E201, CCC-E215, CCC-E216, CCC-E217 and CCCE218. These areas have since gotten the “all clear.”

Fire crews had previously imposed an evacuation order for some residents and have since downgraded the areas to an evacuation warning .

According to Cal Fire, evacuation orders require residents to leave immediately, whereas warnings ask residents to “prepare to evacuate.”

Officials advised evacuating residents only to bring important valuables and keep pets on a leash. They also advised people to stay off their phones unless they need to report a life-threatening injury.

The Point Fire was reported just past 2 p.m. by the 4300 block of Evora Road. Photos obtained show visible smoke around the area.

Contra Costa fire crews said they were working alongside Cal Fire crews to combat the fire, with over 20 fire crews at the scene. Crews told KRON4 that multiple dozers and two to three aircraft were assisting with the fire’s containment.

At 4:50 p.m., the National Weather Service said smoke from the Point Fire was flowing northeast toward Solano County.

At 8:15 p.m., Contra Costa fire crews said that since forward progress was stopped, Cal Fire “is now in command of the fire. Con Fire units remain on scene assisting.”

Fire crews have not reported any injuries. They do not have an estimate of when the fire’s forward progress will stop.
