Pure, unadulterated joy! That's precisely what happened at the University of Michigan-Flint's 38th annual Summer Vocal Academy of Music. From July 8-19, the Maize (grades 5-7) and Blue (grades 8-12) choirs explored music theory and vocal technique, made new friends, and created music-inspired art pieces. During their final performance, the Maize Marimba Choir dazzled with the "Bluey Theme Song," and the Blue Choir rocked the audience with Journey's classic, "Don't Stop Believin'." Saginaw man tries robbing gas station with bomb threat, but clerk doesn't yield
SAGINAW, MI — A Saginaw man is facing a life offense after allegedly trying to rob a gas station by claiming he had a bomb. About 2:47 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, a man wearing a ski mask entered the Marathon at 1411 Court St., said Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Matthew Gerow. The masked man approached the clerk, claimed he had a bomb, and threatened to kill him if he did not hand over the register’s cash.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest in a Flint homicide. Around 2:00 Sunday afternoon, 30-year-old Shanquice Love was found dead in the parking lot of the Travel Inn in the 2000 block of South Dort Highway, according to officials. Another person reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

Bay City Public Schools is launching an app for parents and guardians that will allow for accurate, real-time tracking of their children’s school buses. The Stopfinder application was created by the district’s routing software company, Transfinder. It is free to parents and guardians and allows users to customize when they receive alerts about their children’s bus location. The app is also a two-way communication tool, providing parents with an easy way to communicate quickly with district transportation officials and receive instant notifications.
Teen Charged In Beecher Shooutout
An 18-year-old suspect in a shootout in Beecher on June 25 was arrainged this week. Police in the Genesee County community responded to a home on Hilton Lane after an SUV parked in front, with three teens getting out and assaulting someone in the yard. Gunfire erupted between an occupant of the SUV and someone else nearby. 17-year-old Khamani Lindsey was killed while another 17-year-old was critically injured.
