STEVENSVILLE — No injuries were reported after a vehicle drove into the front of El Jefe Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar in Stevensville the evening of Aug. 10, according to Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff Public Information Officer Kaitlyn Briselli.

Emergency responders were alerted to El Jefe located at Shopping Center Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident with property damage about 7:21 p.m. Saturday, she said.

No impairment was involved as an 82-year old driver tried to pull his car to the front of the restaurant and “his foot accidentally got stuck on the accelerator,” Briselli said.

The driver was evaluated by Queen Anne’s County Emergency Medical Services and was released at the scene. No one outside or inside the restaurant was injured, according to Briselli.

El Jefe was closed Sunday and reopened Monday, it is now returned to regular business hours according to the El Jefe Facebook page.

Responding units included Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department, according to Briselli.
