QAC transportation priorities remain consistent
CENTREVILLE — The 2024 Transportation Priority letter was approved for submission to the Maryland Department of Transportation outlining transportation priorities for inclusion in the 2025-2030 Consolidated Transportation Plan. Similar to previous years, county transportation priorities include expediting the process to add capacity to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, constructing improvements for Maryland Route 18, supporting efforts for bicycle and pedestrian networks, constructing a US 50 and MD 213 interchange, as well as intersection improvements on the US 301 corridor. ...
Dietician gives ‘scoop’ on healthy eating
For the University of Maryland Extension Office, Queen Anne’s County, dietician Cheryl Bush holds a plate showing the recommended dietary portions for daily healthy eating. Eastbound 50 closed following fiery crash
STEVENSVILLE — An early morning crash has eastbound Route 50 near Dominion Road closed until further notice. Initial reports indicate two tractor trailers collided resulting in a fire. One patient was transported to the hospital. Maryland Department of the Environment was notified of the subsequent fuel spill.

QACPS seniors earn Seal of Biliteracy for 6th straight year
CENTREVILLE — For the sixth year straight, World Language teachers in Queen Anne’s County Public Schools have earned Maryland Seal of Biliteracy Medalists at both Queen Anne’s County High School and Kent Island High School. No Kid Hungry Maryland grants over $262,000 to combat summer hunger

Maryland students win statewide finance and economics competitions
More than 100 elementary, middle and high school students from 55 schools across Maryland have won the statewide personal finance and economics competitions coordinated by the Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE). The winners were honored on May 15, at an awards ceremony at Towson University. The competitions, provide a fun, competitive atmosphere for learning personal finance and economics — topics often not taught in schools. More than 20,000 students from 20 Maryland counties participated in MCEE’s competitions this school year — the highest student participation in MCEE’s annual programs in more than 13 years.
