Houma native wins Telly Award for music video recorded on city street
A Houma artist won a television industry award for set design featuring a street from the city. Antonio Welch, stage name Kvng Tone, won a silver Telly Award — tying with the likes of MTV — for his set design in a music video titled "Chiraq Extra Clip." The video features Welch cosplaying as the horror movie icon Chucky, along with a doll of the character, and rapping about shooting other artists.
Houma Native Evan Benton’s Rapid Rise to Victory at World Series of Poker
Despite being a newcomer to poker, Houma native Evan Benton clinched the top spot at event #28 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. The World Series of Poker is an annual series of poker tournaments sponsored by Caesars Entertainment. Benton emerged victorious at event #28, a $1,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em contest held at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

After a long-awaited hiatus following a devastating fire in May 2022, Alumni Grill is excited to announce its reopening this July.
