    Five dead after Bayou Blue house fire, authorities say

    BAYOU BLUE, La., ( KLFY ) – Five people are dead, and one person is in recovery, after an early morning house fire in Lafourche Parish, authorities say.

    The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire occurred at a home in the 300 block of Louise Lane around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

    The deceased victims include three adults, a teenager and a toddler, authorities said in an update . The surviving victim is a teenager.

    When Bayou Blue volunteer firefighters responded to the report of the fire, the home was already engulfed in flames, State Fire Marshal Bryan J. Adams said.

    “This is not something we do every day, and it is a very unfortunate situation. It will take a long time for the community to heal from this,” Adams said.

    In a Saturday afternoon press conference , Adams said one survivor was able to get out and is receiving treatment at a hospital. Adams said, based on the reports they have received, the survivor is in stable condition.

    The fire remains under investigation.
