Wicomico County Sheriff's Office investigating hit-and-run crash that seriously injured boy

SALISBURY — A hit-and-run investigation is underway after a boy was seriously injured while riding a skateboard on Walston Switch Rd., according to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.

Multiple deputies, troopers and EMS were dispatched Aug. 15 at 8:26 p.m. to the area just north of Shavox Rd. for reports of a serious motor vehicle crash. That is less than a mile from Wor-Wic Community College and U.S. 50.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed that the boy was struck by a motor vehicle, which left the scene.

The boy was flown to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office said the collision is being investigated by its Collision Reconstruction Unit.
