DOVER — Members of the Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club have been busy this summer, helping students with back-to-school supplies and providing sleeping bags for homeless individuals.

Its most recent venture took place when the club’s satellite branch at Noble’s Pond promoted a positive start to the academic year by collecting essential tools.

Members filled several bags with notebooks, pencils, backpacks and other items, which were subsequently delivered to the Capital School District’s administrative office.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming generosity of the Noble’s Pond community,” said Vito Muti, chair of the satellite club. “We aim to create a brighter future for local students by providing them with the necessary resources.”

Meanwhile, on July 29, the Noble’s Pond group announced a collaboration with Ugli Quilts, a nonprofit that sews sleeping bags for the homeless population in the Dover area.

During a spring-cleaning drive earlier this year in the 55-plus community, members collected blankets, comforters and other bedding that will be repurposed into high-quality sleeping bags.

This effort not only supports sustainability but ensures that homeless individuals receive durable and warm sleeping solutions.

“We are grateful for the support of Rotary and its members,” said Diane McGuire of Ugli Quilts. “Their efforts in collecting bedding goods will enable us to expand our impact and reach more individuals experiencing homelessness with the comfort and warmth of our sleeping bags.”
