Heat advisory issued for Kent, inland Sussex counties

DOVER — The National Weather Service has declared a heat advisory in effect from 11 a.m. this morning until 8 p.m. this evening for Kent and inland Sussex counties, warning of heat index values up to 106 degrees.

The hot temperatures and high humidity increase the risk for heat-related illnesses, the weather service advises.

It recommends taking extra precautions when outside, like wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Also, it said to try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
