BUIES CREEK, N.C. — It's not every day that Delaware State puts up 40 points in a football game.

When the Hornets scored 41 on Saturday, it marked just the second time since 2008 that DSU has tallied that many points against an FCS program.

Unfortunately for DelState, Campbell scored three points more.

The Camels' touchdown with just 42 seconds left capped off a seesaw second half as Campbell came away with a 44-41 victory at Barker-Lane Stadium.

In a contest that featured six lead changes, Sincere Brown's two-yard TD catch from quarterback Chad Mascoe, Jr. completed a five-play, 79-yard drive for the Camels (2-3).

The Hornets (1-4) had gone up 41-37 on Jaden Sutton's 15-yard scoring run with 1:56 on the clock. Sutton had a big game for DSU, finishing with 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20 carries.

DelState drove 76 yards on 13 plays to take the lead.

The two squads combined to score 29 points in just the fourth quarter. They also combined for 974 yards, 46 first downs and 11 TDs in the contest.

Hornet quarterback Marqui Adams completed 12-of-23 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns. Adams hit Kristian Tate with a 60-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and NyGhee Lolley with a 75-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.

Sutton’s day included a 62-yard scoring run in the first quarter as DelState opened up an early 21-10 advantage. Adams added 26 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Brown caught three TD passes for Campbell as he had five receptions for 133 yards. Mascoe was 18-of-26 for 323 yards and three touchdowns.
