    Roundup: Delmar pulls away from Indian River; Milford wins again

    DELMAR - Khalid Schoolfield’s 85-yard kickoff return for a third-quarter touchdown gave Delmar High the lead for good as the Wildcats pulled away to a 55-29 win over Indian River in football on Saturday afternoon.

    The Indians had just tied the contest at 14-14 on Davon Handy’s 40-yard scoring run when Schoolfield returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD.

    Class 2A Delmar (4-1), which won its third game in a row, out-scored Class 1A IR, 35-14, in the third quarter alone after leading 14-7 at halftime.

    Schoolfield scored three touchdowns, including two on runs of 39 and 38 yards. The Wildcats also got a pair of TDs on fumble returns, a 45-yarder from Dason Baine and a 40-yarder from Orian Church.

    Clayton Church scored twice on short runs.

    Four different players scored for the Indians (3-1), who got a 49-yard touchdown run from Darnell Stokes.

    Milford 27, Concord 0: The Buccaneers improved to 3-1 with their second victory in a row.

    Hodgson 27, Cape Henlopen 23: The Vikings fell to 3-1 with the loss on Saturday.

    Sussex Central 31, Woodbridge 14: Malik Bell scored three touchdowns as the Golden Knights (4-0) remained unbeaten.

    Bell scored on both a 56-yard run and a 56-yard pass from quarterback Bradley Chavez. The senior also scored on a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter.

    William Harmon added a 39-yard scoring run in the third quarter with Rodney Escobar-Gonzalez adding a 27-yard field goal and four PATs.

    Central scored 10 points in the second quarter to take a 17-7 halftime lead.

    For the Blue Raiders (3-1), Marquel Clark caught a pair of TD passes from Logan Moran.

    Saint Mark’s 31, Caesar Rodney 14: The Riders (1-3) tied the game at 14-14 on a 56-yard, second-quarter run before the Spartans (3-1) scored the game’s final 17 points.

    Saint Mark’s QB James Campbell completed 12-of-18 passes for 134 yards with two TDs while running for 40 yards on six carries. Eli Burke ran for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries.

    Appoquinimink 21, Smyrna 12: The unbeaten Jaguars overcame a 12-0 deficit to improve to 4-0 after downing the Eagles on Friday.

    Smyrna fell to 1-3 after the setback.

    Odessa 21, Sussex Tech 18, OT: Jackson Matyger’s second field goal, a 23-yarder in overtime, gave the Ducks (1-3) ther first win of the season.

    Odessa tallied 11 fourth-quarter points to overcome an 18-0 first-quarter deficit. The Ducks tied the contest on Matyger’s 27-yard field goal.

    Alexander Turner returned a fumble 65 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Isaiah Melton, who scored on a 43-yard run in the second quarter, added the two-point conversion.

    Isaiah Jones (15 carries-94 yards) and LeBryan Jones both ran for TDs in the first quarter for the Ravens (3-1). Joshua Leon-Villanueva made a 26-yard field goal while Kyle Thompson ran for 109 yards on 20 carries.

    Sussex Tech missed a field-goal attempt on its possession in OT.

    Salesianum 56, Dover 0: The Sals (3-1) avenged last season’s loss to the Senators by rolling to the victory in Wilmington.

    Dover, which is now 0-3 this season, trailed 29-0 in the first quarter and 49-0 at halftime. Aiden Lego ran for three touchdowns for Sallies.

    Seaford 64, Early College 0: The Blue Jays earned the Class 1A District II win by shutout.
