Houston police investigate fatal shooting at apartment complex
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 59-year-old man at 5910 Schroeder Road on Tuesday evening. The victim's identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective J. Meister reported that officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex and found the man unresponsive on the sidewalk. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics. A preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that the victim was playing dominoes with friends when an unknown suspect approached from behind, struck him on the head, and after an exchange of words, shot him. The suspect, described only as a black male in his 20s, fled the scene, according to the Houston Police Department. Endangered ring-tailed lemur found in northwest Houston park
HOUSTON — An endangered ring-tailed lemur was recently found roaming in northwest Houston and now efforts are underway to move it to a lemur sanctuary.
