Rudder girls volleyball team wins AVCA's academic award for 16th straight year
The Rudder girls volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s team academic award for the 16th straight year. The Lady Rangers had a 3.64 grade-point average. The AVCA’s minimum is 3.3. Rudder, under veteran coach Jacky Pence, has earned the award every year since the school opened. Rudder was among only 48 schools in the state out of 3,250 to earn the award this year.

HOUSTON (KIAH) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is planning to install an additional 18 artificial roosts or “bat boxes” at the Walnut Creek Bridge along I-35 in Austin to offset the impact of construction on a pair of bridges that once offered cozy crevices to the Brazilian free-tailed bat – one of the 32 bat species found in Texas.
