Rutgers landed another commitment in the class of 2025 today when Ben Rothhaar of Norwalk (Ohio) announced his plans to join the Scarlet Knights. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder was previously committed to Kent State but has flipped to Rutgers. The Jamesburg Police Department is holding its annual National Night Out from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This family-friendly event features music from DJ Tyler and fun giveaways. Hot dogs, Italian ice, popcorn and more will be served. Chase, the Jamesburg PD's mascot dog, will also be on hand for a meet-and-greet. National Night Out began in 1984 as a way to strengthen the bonds between the community and the police in their unified fight against crime and to improve the relations between officers and the residents living in the towns they serve. Council approves cut-it-and-leave-it policy
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Pleasant Beach mayor and council approved a resolution supporting a cut-it-and-leave-it environmental policy in the borough, where homeowners are being encouraged to leave grass clippings on their lawns after mowing. This statewide initiative is intended to both save homeowners money on municipal waste pickup as well as divert the clippings away from solid waste streams, according to a press release about the resolution from the Point Pleasant Beach Environmental Commission.

MANCHESTER — Troubling levels of bacteria were found more than once this week at Harry Wright Lake. Escherichia coli (E. coli) was found at the site.
