Deputies arrest Nipomo man after nightlong standoff
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Nipomo man after a nightlong standoff at the suspect’s house. At about 11:30 p.m., a witness reported a disturbance in the 100 block of S. Avocado Avenue in Nipomo. The suspect vandalized a vehicle by breaking windows and damaging the body of the car. He also threatened to kill the victim, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Two local boxers win at state championship
– Local youth boxers Caiden Perez and JJ Subia recently earned titles at the 2024 Southern California State Amateur Boxing Championships, which was held in Perris from July 12 to 15. Both boxers train at the Goat Shack Boxing Club in Paso Robles, which opened in January 2023. Subia, who is 21 years old, is also the owner of the club.

San Luis Obispo Museum of Art presenting new mural by MOMO
—The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA) is pleased to announce a new mural for 2024 to be painted by American mural artist MOMO. The projects begins July 22 and is expected to be completed by August 16. This new mural will replace the beloved SLO(W) Rainbow by California artist Leah Rosenberg.
Authorities investigate burned flags, signs left at downtown SLO businesses
In multiple videos, male suspect is wearing shorts, a dark t-shirt, with a noticeable full white beard. – On July 24, the San Luis Obispo Police Department investigated a series of suspicious incidents involving burned political signs and burned flags left at various locations downtown. An adult male was seen in surveillance footage affixing the burned items to doors or draping them across doorway thresholds. The burned signs were political yard signs, and the burned flags represented the LGBTQ+ community and the country of Ukraine. The signs and flags also had religious statements written on them.
