    Diabetic children treated 'as criminals' at airport

    Just because they got training, doesn't mean they have the common sense to use it effectively.

    Onetime I was in a boot cast due to I am allergic to cast materials and was not able to stand on it and airport security wanted me to remove it and walk through the scanner. I was in a Wheelchair. I told them I wasn’t able to do that so they finally did a Pat down. Another time I was trying to get to my dad because my mother had just died. The shoes I had on had thick soles and they thought they must have some explosives built into the soles or something. I was wearing a skirt. They made me stand in the scanning area in front of the public while they patted me down, swabbed me and stuck a wand up under my skirt to hand scan me. I started crying and the security guard asked me why and I told her it was because my mom just died and I was trying to get to my dad. She said she was sorry. I was very embarrassed by the whole situation. Then they wouldn’t letmecarry on my suitcase because it was a small plane and they didn’t have room for it.
