SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Chatham County’s police chief is up for a position in Texas.

Chief Jeff Hadley is one of five finalists for Beaumont Police Chief.

“Beaumont would provide me an opportunity to continue to serve in my chosen profession, extend my experience to the agency and city leadership, and be part of a team that makes the city as safe and prosperous as possible,” his biography sent to the city reads.

Next, Hadley will participate in a Q&A session with community leaders.

The chief has been with the Chatham County Police Department since December 2017.

He is currently assisting the new Chatham County Fire Department in its transition. The county recently took over fire services from a private company.

Officials say Hadley is still in charge of major decisions within the department, but Assistant Chief Julie Tolbert is the “acting chief” as he assists Chatham County Fire.
