“Love the Boot Week” is April 20-28 in Louisiana, and the city of DeRidder/Keep DeRidder Beautiful is looking to partner with civic and community groups on projects that clean and beautify the community.

According to Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the first 300 organizations to register a litter cleanup or beautification event at lovetheboot.org will receive a cleanup kit with supplies including t-shirts, trash bags, and gloves. The first 100 groups of individuals and families (less than 10 people) to register a litter cleanup or beautification event will receive a one-day Louisiana State Parks pass for one car entry (one per group).

Keep Louisiana Beautiful is the state’s anti-litter and community improvement organization focused on education, enforcement, awareness and cleanups. Keep Louisiana Beautiful is comprised of a network of 39 affiliates in communities throughout the state, including Keep DeRidder Beautiful.

2022 was the first year for “Love the Boot Week,” and it led to 8,476 volunteers dedicating more than 40,000 hours to the removal of 293 tons of litter at 280 events spanning the state, including in DeRidder.

Local groups and individuals can contact Janet Vincent, city of DeRidder, at 337-462-8900 or by e-mail at jvincent@cityofderidder.org to volunteer for local projects.
