Two people have died in a listeria outbreak across 12 states in the U.S. that is likely linked to sliced deli meats, according to the CDC. In total, 28 people have been infected and hospitalized with the disease as of Friday in an outbreak that began in May, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

10th Annual Operation K-9 set for Aug. 1
The annual summer event showcasing the talent and skills of area law enforcement K-9s is back for its 10th year and will feature more K-9s from more agencies than ever before. Operation K-9 will be Thursday, August 1, from 4:30 to 8 p.m., and will feature nearly 20 K-9 teams from eight different law enforcement agencies. Marble and Glass Art Hunt Brings Excitement to Duluth Public Library
DULUTH, Minn. — The Annual Marble and Glass Art Hunt was Wednesday morning in Duluth and this year it took on a whole new meaning. Lake Superior Art Glass had a new venue for the hunt this year, the Duluth Public Library’s three branch locations. Hunters of all ages lined up to search for handcrafted marbles, pendants, and little glass statues. Previously, the hunt was held across Duluth’s public parks and enjoy the outdoors. This year, hunters ventured into the shelves to search.

MINNESOTA - ATV clubs can request additional funding to cover trail repairs that happened this year with all the rainfall. During a recent legislative session, ATV Minnesota got thousands of dollars added to the Grant-In-Aid fund. Clubs are able to request a supplement once they have spent most of their existing funding. ATV Minnesota President Ron Potter says that clubs need to keep at least $1 in their current grant account otherwise it will be closed because you can’t supplement a closed account. The Associated Press reported that the trouble stemmed from a faulty software update issued by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, affecting computers running Microsoft Windows. Crowdstrike said it was not a hacking incident or cyberattack; the company apologized and said a fix was on the way.
Walz Promises Southern MN Family “Full Investigation” Into Daughter’s Death
(Pine Island, MN) — Governor Walz is promising a southern Minnesota family a full investigation into their daughter’s death. Walz visited Pine Island yesterday to talk about state resources available to new farmers. He was asked about the charges brought against Minnesota State Trooper Shane Roper following a May crash that led to the death of Owatonna’s Olivia Flores. Walz called the crash “tragic” and said the investigation is needed to determine if policy changes are needed. Roper is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide.
