    Times' Top Performances from last week: April 29-May 5

    Every Monday, the Beaver County Times will recognize both individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances that took place in the last week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from the week of April 29-May 5.

    BASEBALL

    Iseia Schulz, OLSH

    Schulz impressed on the bump for the Chargers in game one of a doubleheader against Northgate as he went five innings allowing just two hits an earned run while fanning 14 batters in the team’s 16-1 win over the Flames.

    Brady Brazell, OLSH

    Brazell put together a solid line all week for the Chargers this past week as he kicked off the week collecting five hits in nine at bats during his team’s double header sweep over Northgate. In game one, Brazell went 3-for-4 driving in three runs while working a walk in the team’s victory over the Flames. Then in game two, Brazell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Following the double header against Northgate, Brazell continued his hot week on Thursday going 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the team’s 10-1 win over Fort Cherry on Senior night. Finally on Friday, the Chargers capped off their perfect week with a decisive 10-for-2 win over New Brighton where Brazell collected two wins in the victory.

    Darren McDade, Riverside

    McDade put together a solid performance in Riverside’s 10-0 win over Neshannock on Monday as he mashed a home run to go along with three RBIs in a two hit effort to begin the week.

    Isiah Lutz, Ellwood City

    Lutz impressed for Ellwood City this past week as he began the week going 2-for-3 in the team’s 14-1 win over Beaver Falls on Monday. Then on Tuesday, Lutz was perfect as he went 3-for-3 in the team’s win over the Tigers sweeping the home and home series. Then on Thursday, Lutz collected two more hits in the team’s 10-0 win over Riverview.

    Jordan Keller, Ellwood City

    Keller was electric in his team’s 10-0 win over Riverview on Thursday as he went 3-for-4 hitting a triple while driving in six runs in the team’s blowout victory.

    Jaxon Zahn, New Brighton

    Zahn was dominant on both sides of the ball as he went 2-for-5 driving in two runs at the plate while also tossing a no hitter as he went five innings and fanned eight batters in the team’s 20-0 win over Aliquippa.

    Brock Budacki, New Brighton

    Budacki continued his dominance at the plate this week as he collected three hits during the Lions’ games this week. The junior launched his fourth home run of the season on Tuesday in the team’s 12-2 win over Aliquippa.

    RJ Sebak, Beaver Area

    Sebak deposited a walkoff single in the eighth inning of the Bobcats win over Blackhawk as he drove in the game winning run to defeat the Cougars 6-5. Sebak 3-for-4 with the lone RBI of the contest coming by way of the walkoff.

    Joey Marasco, Moon Area

    Marasco pitched a complete game for the Tigers in their tight 3-2 win over New Castle on Tuesday. Marasco was dominant allowing just five hits, two earned runs while striking out six in the victory.

    SOFTBALL

    Julia Pinter, OLSH

    Pinter had the power stroke going for the Lady Chargers this past week as she walked off OLSH with a two-run home run on Monday in the team’s 4-3 win over Charleroi. She followed up that performance with another home run on Tuesday as she hit another two-run homer the very next day in the team’s dominant 13-0 shutout over Washington.

    Lilli Wamsley, OLSH

    Wamsley impressed in the circle for OLSH on Tuesday as she fanned seven while also collecting three RBIs at the plate in the Lady Chargers win over Washington.

    Kennedi Cook, South Side

    Cook was dominant for the Rams this past week as she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs in the team’s 15-0 win over Cornell on Tuesday. She followed up that performance with a 1-for-3 effort in the team’s 11-1 win over Northgate.

    Abigale Stewart, Central Valley

    Stewart was dominant for the Warriors as on Monday, she went 4-for-5 with an RBI in the team’s 6-5 win over Ellwood City. She would follow up that performance with a 1-for-2 effort in the team’s win over Mohawk on Thursday.

    Aubrey Grater, Central Valley

    Outside of Stewart’s dominant performance over the week, no performance was bigger than Grater’s on Thursday for the Warriors as she went 2-for-3 with six RBIs with one of her hits being a home run in the team’s shutout victory.

    Peyton Kimberlin, Blackhawk

    Kimberlin has been a key piece to the Lady Cougars success in the circle this season and Thursday was no different as she helped Blackhawk clinch a playoff birth pitching a complete game and fanning nine in the team’s 8-1 win over Ambridge.

    Sami Springman, Beaver Area

    After a tough loss to the Bridgers earlier in the week, Springman and the Bobcats battled back as she went a perfect 3-for-3 on Friday with a home run while driving in five runs in the team’s dominant 12-2 win over Ambridge.

    GIRLS LACROSSE

    Mia Piocquidio, Blackhawk

    Piocquidio was domaint this week for the Cougars as she scored her 79th goal of the season after netting four goals in her team’s 20-6 win over North Catholic on Monday. She followed up that performance with a five goal effort on Wednesday in the team’s 14-9 win over Quaker Valley.

    Lucy Roig, Quaker Valley

    Roig was on point for the Quakers this past week as she tallied five goals on Monday in the team’s dominant victory over Aquinas Academy, four goals on Wednesday’s in the team’s loss to Blackhawk and then four goals to cap off the week on Friday in the team’s win over North Allegheny.
