ROCHESTER ― Blackhawk High student Aubrey Bowman was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Beaver County and awarded nearly $1,000 in cash scholarships during an annual area scholarship program for high school girls held at The Sandy Regiel Theater in Rochester.

Bowman was among three high school students from Beaver County who competed to represent the county as the Distinguished Young Woman of Beaver County for 2025. Participants were evaluated in the categories of scholastics (25%), interview (25%), talent (20%), fitness (15%) and self-expression (15%). Bowman was awarded the highest score in talent and fitness on her way to becoming the newest representative.

Throughout the next year, Bowman will represent the county at various public events and serve as a role model to young people by spreading the program’s national outreach message of “Be Your Best Self.” The outreach program is designed to encourage self-esteem and excellence in all young people through its five principles: Be Healthy, Be Involved, Be Studious, Be Ambitious, and Be Responsible.

Bowman is the daughter of Pedro and Lori Bowman and is a junior at Blackhawk Area High School.

The 67th National Finals will occur on June 27, 28, and 29 in Mobile, Ala. The 50 state representatives will travel to Mobile from across the country to participate in personal development activities and community service projects before competing for the opportunity to become the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2024 and for additional cash scholarships.

Alabama’s Carrington Hodge, now a freshman at Vanderbilt University, was named the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2023.
