GREENE TWP. ― The 78th annual Hookstown Fair returns Aug. 20-24.

Here's a look at what fun awaits:

Entertainment Highlights

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Noon: Musical entertainment by Vintage Debby.

7 p.m.: Rodeo

7:30 p.m.: Ernie Valley as Chubby Love

9 p.m.: Roy Orbison tribute by Steve Dorsey

9:40 p.m.: Fireworks by Pyrotecnico.

Wednesday , Aug. 21

7 p.m.: Demolition derby

7 and 8:30 p.m.: The Eldorado Band (country rock).

Thursday , Aug. 22

7 p.m.: Rough truck and half car competition.

7 and 8:30 p.m.: The Project Band (classic rock).

Friday , Aug. 23

7 p.m.: Demolition derby

7 and 8:30 p.m.: The Slapshot Band (classic rock)

Saturday , Aug. 24

9 a.m.: Farm stock tractor pulls

1 and 2:30 p.m.: James Tobin & The Dewey Decimators (classic and original rock)

5 p.m.: Power pulls.

7 and 8:30 p.m.: 4th Gear (classic & modern rock, country, grunge).

Daily attractions

Patriot Games Laser Tag, Bill Schaudt Wood Creations chainsaw art, Kids Corner art projects, Zoo 2 Go live animals at Kiddyland, Happy Trails Training canine demonstrations, livestock exhibits and midway rides.

The Food

Highland Homestead, a Beaver County farm, will serve dinner in the Hookstown Grange building from 2-8 p.m. daily.

The menu: Stuffed chicken on Tuesday; slow-roasted beef chuck on Wednesday; chicken & dumplings on Thursday; shrimp alfredo or ham steak on Friday; stuffed pork chops on Saturday. All are served with Mancini's bread, with the sides menu offering mac 'n cheese, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a garden salad. For dessert, there's pistachio cake, Oreo cream trifle and assorted homemade pies.

A Boy Scouts milkshake booth and Campfire Girls and South Side Area Boosters food booths will be in operation.

The fair's midway will offer fried and baked foods.

Daily admission tickets (including midway rides) cost $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. The online purchase site and a list of quad-county stores selling tickets are at hookstownfair.com.

The fair's 2024 theme: Flourishing with Opportunity Rooted in Agriculture.

The Hookstown Fairgrounds are at 1198 State Route 168 in Greene Township, just south of Hookstown.
