ALIQUIPPA ― Several days after discovering a woman's body in the city's Plan 12 neighborhood, police have charged her alleged killer.

According to police, homicide charges were filed Tuesday against 25-year-old Jason Banks Jr. The charges filed indicate police believe Banks was responsible for the murder of 20-year-old Treonna Washington, whose body was found in an alley along the 1200 block of Wade Street Saturday morning.

In court documents, police said Banks was spotted on camera assaulting Washington around 7 p.m. Friday. In the video, Banks is allegedly seen grabbing Washington's hair, hitting her and attempting to push her down a flight of stairs.

Banks and Washington are spotted on camera again shortly before 10 p.m. near Reed Street, walking with a third person. Reed Street runs parallel to Wade Street, with the two connected by several alleyways. In the video obtained by police, the sound of a gunshot can be heard after the group passes.

Police identified the third person in the video and later interviewed them about the incident. During this time, the person informed investigators that they were in the alley and had seen Banks shoot Washington.

Banks is charged with criminal homicide and two charges of simple assault. He is being held at the Beaver County Jail without bond.
