ALIQUIPPA ― Beaver County's diverse hobbyists will be featured in 'My Elevated Hobby,' an art exhibition at the 27th annual Aliquippa Art and Music Festival on Aug. 31.

The display will feature unique quilts, money boxes, dollhouses, puzzles, paintings, fabric art and adult coloring pieces. The exhibition will be held at The Broadcast, at 464 Franklin Ave.

Organizers say excitement is mounting for the festival, hosted by the Franklin Center of Beaver County, downtown on Franklin Avenue. It's a day filled with vibrant art, food, live music and engaging activities.

The festival kicks off at noon at Franklin Avenue Park, located next to the Aliquippa Police Station. Attendees can enjoy a bustling marketplace with food trucks, drinks, and various vendor booths offering merchandise. Seating will be available, however, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The festival runs from noon to 6:30 p.m. and has free admission. Live performances on the Main Stage will run throughout the day, starting at noon. Featured acts include decorated blues band Billy the Kid and the Regulators, international R&B/gospel artist Janine Gilbert-Carter, the Red Band and United Praise.

Returning for its second year is "The Unknown Singer," a fun event where festivalgoers can win prizes by guessing the identities of local personalities and musicians performing anonymously behind the stage. Also, attendees are invited to The Broadcast, a block away, to go “Sailing at the Hoedown” with Shawnda W., a country line-dance instructor. Attendees are welcome to bring their cowboy boots, hats, vests and jeans.

“We are thrilled to bring together people from across Beaver County for a day of fun and relaxation,” Franklin Center executive director Cheryl King, said. “This year is particularly special, as 2024 marks the start of Franklin Center’s 40th anniversary year. The festival kicks off a year-long series of special events celebrating our four decades of service to the Beaver County community.”

The Franklin Center of Beaver County is a human services nonprofit that has served over 170,000 Beaver County residents over the past 40 years. This year’s festival sponsors include the Community College of Beaver County, Mayor Kenya Johns of Beaver Falls and the Uncommon Grounds Café.
