A new Mexican restaurant, Cantina Bar and Grill, has opened at 161 Brighton Ave. in Rochester.

Tacos, which cost $4 apiece or three for $10, have been the most popular menu pick by customers since last month's opening.

"We also have breakfast burritos ($7), so you can come in starting at 8 a.m.," chef Bree Hall said. "We have our meat lovers, we have a veggie one. We can customize them the way you like. We have a ham & egg one, I know that's a big favorite with a lot of the guys that get off work early in the morning and have a beer.

"We also are very family-oriented. So, we have tacos," Hall said. "You can do the plain meat and cheese. Or the chicken or steak; we try to satisfy everybody. We have nachos, quesadillas. The burritos are also a big seller of ours, usually the steak or chicken ones. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. We do take requests and are updating our menu daily. We're working on new specials."

Authentic Mexican recipes come from the family of Cantina Bar and Grill business partner Chris Garcia, a Los Angeles native who relocated to Beaver County as one of the construction workers at The Shell Polymers Monaca plant. Garcia's family operated a Mexican restaurant in California.

Homemade salsas/spices include a spicy salsa and a thick salsa verde.

Garcia and Cantina Bar and Grill business partner Andy Naggy oversaw basic renovations, including repainting of the ceiling and walls, and freshening the building from former incarnations, including saloons called the Swan Dive and Gringos 20Twenty.

Cantina Bar and Grill offers interior seating for more than 30, including tables and at the bar.

Several 65-inch TVs will show sports action, such as Steelers parties.
