    Times' high school football top performances: Week 5

    The Beaver County Times will recognize high school football players across the Beaver Valley for their impressive performances each week. Here are the standout efforts for Week 5.

    BJ Nastick, Central Valley

    Nastick hauled in two receptions for 64 yards with one of his receptions going for a 64-yard touchdown score in the Warrior's 21-14 loss to Avonworth .

    Braden Mayo, Western Beaver

    Mayo was the Golden Beaver’s leading rusher this week as he rushed eight times for 39 yards reaching the end zone twice in Western Beaver’s 21-10 win over Riverside.

    Elijah Palmer-McCane, Ellwood City

    Palmer-McCane paced the Wolverines on the ground this past week as he rushed the ball 31 times for 184 yards reaching the end zone three times while averaging 5.9 yards per carry in Ellwood City’s 33-0 win over New Brighton.

    Chris Smiley, Ellwood City

    Even in less-than-ideal weather conditions, Smiley completed five passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in the Wolverines victory over New Brighton.

    Dailonn Currie, Ellwood City

    Currie hauled in both of his receptions for touchdown scores Friday night as the wideout recorded 61 receiving yards against New Brighton.

    Isaiah Leasha, Freedom Area

    Leasha scored all of the Bulldogs touchdowns Friday night in the team’s 20-0 win over Beaver Falls. The senior quarterback rushed for two of his touchdown scores finishing with 16 yards on the ground while completing one pass to wide receiver Cooper Young for 11 yards that went for a touchdown.

    Rocco Marcantonio, Hopewell

    Marcantonio made history as he broke the WPIAL’s field goal record splitting the uprights with a 56-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of the Viking's 24-7 victory over Quaker Valley.

    Brody Rock, Hopewell

    Rock was a force on the ground for Hopewell in its win over Quaker Valley as the freshman rushed 28 times for 202 yards finding the end zone once in the first quarter on a three-yard run.

    Brody Malatak, West Allegheny

    Malatak scored two total touchdowns in West Allegheny’s 38-0 win over Ambridge. The junior quarterback rushed for his first score of the game taking the ball 58 yards for the score. He would later connect with Teagan Tomei for a 16-yard score in the second quarter. Malatak finished with 67 yards passing and 69 yards on the ground.

    Qualan Cain, Beaver Area

    Cain’s dominant senior season continues for the Bobcats as he rushed seven times for 196 yards and two touchdown scores where he averaged 28 yards per carry in Beaver Area’s 49-0 win over McGuffey.

    Vann Kavals, OLSH

    For the second straight week, Kavals was instrumental in the Chargers victory as he reached the end zone four times in the team’s 26-7 win over Apollo-Ridge. The senior connected through the air for two of his scores finishing 14-for-22 throwing for 132 yards. He also found the end zone twice on the ground rushing nine times for 126 yards.

    James Clinton Jr., Rochester

    The sophomore rushed nine times for 162 yards finding the end zone three times in the second quarter of the Ram's 42-7 win over Summit Academy.

    Thomas Henry, Rochester

    Henry also got into the scoring action Friday night as he rushed four times for 27 yards reaching the end zone two times in the Rams victory over Summit Academy.

    Tiqwai Hayes, Aliquippa

    Hayes returned to the Quips lineup Friday night after being sidelined for two games and paced Aliquippa with 105 yards on the ground finishing with three total touchdowns on the evening.

    Sa'Nir Brooks

    Brooks rushed 13 times for 88 yards reaching the end zone twice in the team's 62-21 victory over New Castle.

    Marques Council Jr., Aliquippa

    Council Jr. was on point Friday night finishing 12-for-20 for 234 yards and two touchdowns through the air as the Quips defeated New Castle at Heinz Field.
