Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers proves he’s still a Buckeye at heart
Quinn Ewers may not be wearing Scarlet and Gray anymore, but it’s clear he still has a deep connection to Ohio State. Ewers, of course, was the most highly-rated quarterback ever since high school rankings began in the early 2000s, and spent a season in Columbus in 2021. Ewers reclassified and enrolled late in the summer at OSU but saw little playing time as a true freshman. The Southlake, Texas native had always been a Texas Longhorns fan and decided to transfer back home the following season where he’s spent the past two seasons leading Steve Sarkisan’s team. But old habits die...

Ohio GOP governor hopefuls use national convention as springboard for 2026
MILWAUKEE - Ohio Republicans eyeing the governor's mansion were unified on one point this week: The 2024 election isn't about 2026. But it also didn't hurt to spend several days in Wisconsin rubbing shoulders with their fellow Republicans − and in one case, getting the spotlight on a national stage. ...

Republicans decry early voting but urge supporters to do it anyway
LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party has hit the message hard to his delegation on a daily basis: It's OK to vote early. In fact, it's encouraged. It's a message that former President Donald Trump — usually the loudest critic in the room when it comes to the integrity of the early vote — has also hit every night via video at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. “The way we win is to swamp them,” Trump says. “If we swamp them, they can't cheat. It just doesn't work out. But if you can't make it [on Election Day], you need to make a plan, register, and vote any way possible.” That message directly conflicts with a plank in the just-approved, scaled-back Republican platform, which calls for a return to strictly same-day voting, a decision that is typically made on a state-by-state basis. The platform also calls for mandatory voter identification, proof of citizenship, and more sophisticated paper ballots.
