More than 300 personnel are currently battling the fire, officials say. On Tuesday, crews planned to use aerial ignitions to burn up fuels and secure portions of the fire’s perimeter.
“This will likely increase the visibility of smoke in the area today,” said Kylee Stott, the public information officer for the Little Twist Fire.
Area closures remain in effect. However, Little Reservoir, Tushar Lakeside, and Kent’s Lake Campgrounds remain open to the public for camping.

Over Sunday, a Bureau of Land Management firefighter battling Little Twist was severely injured when an aerial water drop destabilized a large tree and it fell on top of him.
“The BLM and U.S. Forest Service would like to thank the quick actions of first responders and all the personnel that provided medical care,” Stott said “Agencies have activated a lesson learned review team to review the accident. Our thoughts are with our teammate on their road to healing.”
The fundraiser page said Burns suffered bone fractures to his shoulder and face.
