100-year-old water reservoir serving Snohomish County to be replaced
EVERETT, JULY 23: Today Everett Water Utility began to replace its 101-year-old water reservoir that serves two-thirds of the Utility’s customers. In Phase 1 Everett Water Utility will construct a new 8 million-gallon (MG) reservoir adjacent to the old one, which is expected to be completed around the end of 2025. The new 8 MG reservoir has a diameter of 220 feet and rises approximately 21 feet above the ground.

The intention is to create a more consistent response to misdemeanors while integrating necessary services such as health, treatment, and legal aid for those in need. "The goal of this pilot is to give us needed flexibility, capacity, and stability in jail options, ensuring clear and consistent accountability for individuals based on their actions," Harrell stated in an announcement reported by his office.

County Jail Will Begin Booking Again for Drug Use, Other Misdemeanors In the “Downtown Activation Zone”
The King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention has agreed to begin booking people arrested for simple misdemeanors, such as violating a recently passed law criminalizing public drug use and possession, at the request of interim Seattle Police Chief Sue Rahr, PubliCola has learned. The new policy will only apply to people arrested in the so-called Downtown Activation Zone, which stretches from the Chinatown-International District to the Denny Triangle, north of Belltown.
