Suspect pleads not guilty in Fond du Lac drug deal turned deadly stabbing
FOND DU LAC (WLUK) – The suspect in a homicide during an argument about a drug deal pleaded not guilty Friday. No trial date was set for Annaka Trudell in connection with the Feb. 13 stabbing death of Ashley Calo. A status conference is set for Aug. 21, court records show.

NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – A bar & grill in Neenah is honoring a hometown Olympian by decorating its storefront in red, white, and blue. The windows of Greene’s Pour House in the 100 block of West Wisconsin Avenue are adorned with paint in support of Neenah native Maddie Wanamaker. Wanamaker will be competing in rowing events during the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Crossroads at Big Creek is partnering with all eight Door County breweries in creating a special Ale Trail on its property for a fundraising event on Sept. 7 from 12-3:30 pm. The Ale Trail is approximately one-third of a mile and will include beer sampling stations hosted by Bridge Up Brewing, Door County Brewing, Hacienda Beer Co., One Barrel Brewing Co., Peach Barn Farmhouse and Brewery, Shipwrecked Brew Pub & Restaurant, Starboard Brewing Co., and Sway Brewing + Blending.

Layoffs continue across the commercial transportation and freight industry, according to a new round of worker reduction notices in Florida, Texas, Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the second round of layoffs since the beginning of July. Manawa Mill Pond to be restored after dam breach and flash flooding
MANAWA (WLUK) -- The Manawa Mill Pond will return after the dam breach that occurred earlier this month. A few weeks after the early July storm that caused flash flooding in the city, Manawa is getting back to normal. Clean up from the flooded wastewater treatment facility is underway in Lindsay Park. Kids are fishing nearby along the banks of the Little Wolf River, since the 186-acre Manawa Mill Pond remains empty.
UPDATED: Shelter in place order lifted in Amherst standoff
Police in Amherst on Friday said a wanted suspect “has been located” and lifted a shelter in place order that had been in effect for a full day. A brief update issued Friday evening from Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said there is no ongoing danger to the public. He did not say how or when the suspect, 32-year-old Jeffery Miller, was located, nor did he say whether Miller surrendered peacefully.
