BEAVER, WV (WVNS) — Raleigh County Sheriff Jim Canaday said a double shooting in the parking lot of a Beaver church early Saturday was not believed to be connected to the church.

He said it was likely the victims had crashed while attempting to evade the shooter(s).

Sheriff Canaday declined to release additional information.

Deputies had responded to a report around 2 A.M. that a truck had crashed into Beaver First Baptist Church on Oxley Circle.

Authorities said when deputies arrived, they discovered two adult men were dead inside of the truck, apparently from gunshot wounds.
