Beaverton’s Lovegood Performing Arts Company is featuring the classic story of “Tuck Everlasting,” at its theater location at 16260 N.W. Bronson Road on Aug. 2-4; and again Aug. 9-11.

The story, based on the children’s novel by Natalie Babbitt, has been adapted for modern audiences through an updated book (Claudia Shear and Tim Federle), as well as a lively score by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen and “exuberant dance numbers,” producers of the performance said.

“The story centers on Winnie Foster, a girl who longs for a life full of adventure beyond the barrier of her sheltered world. Upon running away from the life she knows, she meets the Tuck family who have a big secret — a secret that some would do anything to get their hands on — eternal life,” the performing arts company said in a statement.

Along the way, Winnie learns about life and one decision that will change her life forever.

Sabrina Bennett, 13, has the lead role of Winnie Foster with Cody Burkett, 22, playing Jessie Tuck.

The eclectic cast ranges in age from 8 to 61 years old.

Performances are set Friday through Sunday, Aug. 2 through Aug. 4; and repeated again Friday to Sunday, Aug. 9 through Aug. 11. All Saturday and Sunday performances have matinees.

Shows run about 2.5 hours including a 20-minute intermission.
