    Wilson 2043 Comprehensive Plan: Public Meetings

    The Wilson North Carolina 2043 Comprehensive Plan is ready for review by the general public. The town wants to hear from the community and they have set dates for you to get the opportunity to do just that.

    This vision for the City of Wilson could develop and be ready for use in 20 years.

    The city has scheduled four open houses in September to show the provisional 2043 Comprehensive Plan and get feedback on improvements and or concerns.

    The following dates are open to the public:

    Thursday, September 07, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Reid Street Community Center, located at 901 Reid St. E.

    Monday, September 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Recreation Park Community Center, located at 500 Sunset Road NW.

    Monday, September 18, 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., located at 316 Douglas St. S.

    Tuesday, September 19, 7:30-9:30 a.m., located at 316 Douglas St. S.

    These dates are all drop-in events, people are welcome to attend as they see fit and at their own conveinence. All feedback and comments will shape the final document that will got to the City Council for the final approval in late 2023 or early 2024.

    These plans have been in the development stages for over a year. City staff have had numerous meetins with citizens of Wilson, business owners, city officials and other stakeholders of Wilson, NC, where four other open houses were held in November of 2022.

    Some plans included but not limited too are, new housing, employment opportunities, medical facilities, parks and other additions to parks.

    This 2043 Comprehensive Plan will replace the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, which was developed more than a decade ago through a similar series of meetins with local residents. The City Council approved it on April of 2010.

    The 2030 plan inspired such projects as the Vollis Simpson Whirligi Park, the U.S. 301 Corridor Revitalization, Wilson RIDE and many other developments in the past 13 years here in Wilson, North Carolina.
