An active investigation has continued for many years looking for Asha Jaquilla Degree. Asha has been missing from her home in Shelby, North Carolina, since February 14, 2000. Family members last saw her asleep in her bedroom at approximately 2:30 a.m. At 4:00 a.m., she was seen by drivers walking along North Carolina Highway 18 in Shelby, North Carolina. She was reported missing by her parents by 6:30 a.m. More than a year later, Asha's book bag was discovered buried along North Carolina 18 in Burke County, NC. FBI Charlotte is investigating in partnership with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Man Charged with Sex Crimes on Children Across Three Counties
On August 28, 2023, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office received a report of a sexual assault involving two juveniles that occurred within Pitt County. Reports were also made to the Greenville Police Department and the Greene County Sheriff's Office involving the same juveniles being assaulted within their jurisdictions.
Pennsylvania's 128yr Mummy Mystery: Stoneman Willie Solved
The mummified man known as Stoneman Willie, will finally receive a proper burial, after being on display in a funeral home in Reading, PA, for 128 years. Stoneman Willie died November 19, 1895, of kidney failure in the local jail due to his alcoholic lifestyle. He was accidentally mummified by a mortician who was experimenting with newer (at the time) embalming techniques. At least according to the funeral home, who petitioned the state to keep his body to monitor the embalming process. Or so the experiment that was taking place on the embalming/mummifying process.

Rose Garden Will Host First Fall Artist Fair on Oct. 8
The Wilson Rose Garden will hold its first ever fall event with food trucks and artists showcasing their talents among the blooms. Art in the Garden will be Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1-5 p.m. at the garden, located at the City of Wilsonโs Charles Pittman Operations Center, 1800 Herring Ave. This will be a free event and open to the public.
Miracle Field at Gillette Welcomes First Teams
A crowd of nearly 400 people gathered on Thursday, September 28 to celebrate the start of Wilson's Miracle League. Cannon Hinnant Field was dedicated and the first league participants played in a one-inning exhibition. Now that the field is opening, the Miracle League will begin play soon. A tip submitted to Crime Stoppers prompted an investigation by Fayetteville Police Departmentโs Campbellton Community Engagement Response Team (CERT) into a residence in the 100 block of Homeplace Court. On September 18, 2023, Williamsburg County Sheriffโs Office Deputies were dispatched to the Cades and Hemingway areas of Williamsburg County to assist and provide support to the Joint Base Charleston in searching for a stealth fighter model F-35B airplane wreckage from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort after a pilot ejected from the airplane over the Lowcountry. The airplane wreckage was located off Old Georgetown Road/S-45-39 in a wooded area. There were no reported injuries.

At some point Garcia lost control of his pickup truck, causing it to collide with a median. Garcia allegedly got out of the truck, rifle in hand, and started shooting at officers, who shot and killed him in return. Elmendorf, Texas.
Wrong-Way Crash on 587, Wilson County, NC
Around 15:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m.) EDT the Wilson County Sheriff's, NC State Highway Patrol, and EMS/FIRE were called out to a wrong-way accident. The vehicle was traveling on Alternate 264 when they turned on the wrong Off-Ramp for U.S. 587. Around the 32.5 mile marker the vehicle had hit another that was traveling West on U.S. 587, US 264 before the change recently this year, and crashed into the woodline.

The family made it clear that they called for their 22-year-old Army Reservist who was having a mental health crisis, as they requested assistance in aid for their 22-year-old.
Homicide Suspect Found Deceased in Car
Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Departmentโs Homicide Unit are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 3200 block of Kentyre Drive. On September 14, 2023, at approximately 10:04 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 3200 block of Kentyre Drive to a report of a person deceased in their home. Upon arriving on the scene, they located one female on the couch in the residence.

At about 11:00 p.m. on September 05, 2023, detectives of the Pitt County Sheriff's Office were at the Speedway located at 3000 S Memorial Dr. Greenville, N.C. when they noticed a group of people gathered behind the trunks of two vehicles.
