BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – The Parenting and Behavior Support Center held their ribbon cutting ceremony on June 13, 2024 on Oakwood Avenue in Beckley.

Although the Parenting and Behavior Support Center may have just held their ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, the center officially opened earlier this month. This center’s parent company, Home Base Inc. held the ceremony to let people come out and see what the new location is offering local families.

Home Base Inc. CEO, Damon Cater told 59News, “What we’re trying to do differently is to utilize some of the different space we have to invite the community to come in and utilize the space for parenting services, peer parent support groups, pantry, clothing, and food pantry.”

Support Center Director, Dr. Linn Sheik said, “We’re looking to help build the future for these families; help them with reunification, visitations, whatever they need to be a stronger family.”

It was a special event, where they offered visitors cake and other tasty treats. A representative from Senator Joe Manchin’s office also attended to offer Manchin’s gratitude.

Although Home Base has served many parts of West Virginia over the years, Cater said this location has the potential to make a big impact on the community. “We just felt like it was underutilized,” Cater added. “We felt like we could have a bigger impact on the community if we just sort of thought that the physical space and the resources we are currently sitting on that just weren’t being used.”

This support center is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

They are also offering therapy by appointments.
