Although he was retiring from public service, he said he would be happy to go back to work for the city as the interim city manager, starting July 1, 2024.

“Because the transition to city manager hasn’t gone quite as quickly as everyone would like, I’m going to stay on for maybe a couple months as city manager to ease that transition, and then, I will be fully retired,” explained Trump.

Beckley Common Council is expected to appoint a permanent city manager in the coming months, freeing Trump to return to retirement.

Trump said he has enjoyed serving the city, and he added he was looking forward to both official retirement and his actual retirement.
