Traffic Alert: Expect delays due to accident on Robert C. Byrd Drive

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Motorists navigating Beckley’s Robert C. Byrd Drive on Wednesday have been urged to exercise caution and anticipate delays following an apparent traffic accident.

Multiple Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department members could be seen stationed at the intersection of Old Eccles Road and Fitzpatrick Road just before Charleston Bluefield exit at 12:34pm on Wednesday afternoon.

A Wrecker could also be observed at the scene of what appears to have been a situation in which a small, four-door vehicle was impacted on the back end.

Traffic flow has not been substantially impacted at the time of writing due to responders being stationed primarily off the roadway, though congestion in the area at any point is common due to the multi-lane roadway having functioned as a single-lane road in recent weeks due to ongoing road work.

The precise nature of the accident is unclear at the time of writing, and it is currently unknown whether any individuals involved in the accident sustained injuries as a result.
