BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Mowing grass and even taking out the trash can be a a harder job when the sun is bright and the mercury is raised, but the co-owner of a Beckley painting company said on Monday, July 15, 2024, that folks should not be overly worried about how hot weather affects surfaces they are painting.

Lisa Helton, who has owned Helton Painting with her husband, Alan Helton, since 1998, said summer is a good season for preparatory work like pressure washing and the high temperatures help paint to dry faster.

“You can do indoor and outdoor, or you can save your indoor for wintertime, when it’s cold outside,” said Helton.

She said cold weather should not be a deal breaker when painting, either.

“You can paint down to 32 degrees,” she said. “If you can stand it.”

Different types of paint may be needed for painting exterior and interior surfaces, regardless of the weather.
